Friday Afternoon Movies (Fridays, 2:00):

The Library’s Friday Afternoon Movies continue in April featuring more fabulous films from our Kanopy collection of award-winning indie and art house films.  See this month’s line-up on our website.
Note:  The library will be closed on Good Friday (Apr. 19).

Photo-Editing Workshop (Sat, April 13, 10:30 am):

Want to photoshop your pictures, but don’t have the software?  Join us for an interactive photo-editing workshop using GIMP, a free image manipulation program, led by local media arts teacher Marc Bergeron.  Learn about colour correction, repairing old photos, and the basics of the interface of this powerful open source software – which can also create computer graphics. Data sticks will be provided with software and project files.  Registration required – contact the library

Off the Shelf! (Mon, Apr. 15, 7:00):

This month Off the Shelf will celebrate Poetry Month.  Join us for an evening of poetry reading.  Audience members are encouraged to bring your favourite poem, or a poem of your own, to share.

Art Workshop for Kids (Sat, Apr. 27, 1:00 pm):

Our series of MAG (Merrickville Artists  Guild) art workshops is wrapping up this month.  These workshops have introduced kids to a variety of art techniques on the theme of heroes – legendary and super.  This month, the kids will be learning Manga animation techniques of proportion, colour, tone, line, and shading to draw portraits of themselves with the wide eyes, wild hair and seriously cool poses of anime superheroes.  Thanks to MAG, Gloria, and guest Manga artist Eowyn for donating their time to encourage young artists.  Registration required.

StoryTime (Fridays, 10ish):

Our Friday morning drop-in has stories, songs, rhymes, rhythm instruments, and a simple craft for toddlers and preschoolers. It’s a great way to encourage early literacy skills and socialize with other kids in a relaxed atmosphere. New StoryTimers are always welcome!

Tech Club/Lego Club (Saturdays, 10-12, drop-in):

Drop by on Saturday mornings to build with LEGO and explore our other building toys: gears, K’nex, magnets & more. Bring a friend for some heavy-duty construction fun.
