MAPsacks:

The warm weather is finally here, so it’s time to experience the great outdoors! Borrow a MAPsack from the Library!

MAPsacks (Movement And Play) help families to get outside, explore and move! A MAPsack is a backpack containing stories, nature guides, activity sheets, a logbook. You can also borrow a free family pass to take the MAPsack to the Rideau Valley Conservation Areas OR Ontario Parks. MAPsacks are an initiative of the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Healthy Community Partnership.

Currently the library has MAPsacks about “Honkers & Quackers”, “The Forest Floor” and “Owls”.

Art Workshop for Kids (Sat, June 16, 1:00-3:00):

Summer! Sun! Water! Sand! Seashells! Join Gloria Stowell for an afternoon of art celebrating the beach.

Our artists will use acrylic paint, paste, various types of sand, and a collection of seashells to create a multi-media picture that invites you to dip your toes! For ages 8-11.  Contact the library to register.

Off the Shelf! (Mon, June 18, 7:00):

This month Off the Shelf returns to the theme of travel stories. This will be our last Off the Shelf until fall, so don’t miss this evening of entertaining readings and light refreshments.

StoryTime (Fridays, 10ish):

Bring your toddler or preschooler (ages 5 & under) to the library for StoryTime Friday mornings at 10:00(ish). Our drop-in StoryTime is a great way to develop your child’s early literacy and group interaction skills in a fun and relaxed setting. StoryTime encourages key skills that will help your child become a successful reader – through stories related to a theme, songs, rhymes & rhythm instruments, and a simple craft. New StoryTimers are always welcome!

LEGO Club (Saturdays, 10 – 12 noon):

Our drop-in LEGO Club (for ages 4 & up) continues on Saturday mornings between 10 and noon.
