The Friends’ will be a part of the big Merrickville Garage Sale. Drop by their location at 217 Colborne St. E (not at the library!) for some great bargains.
Coding Club (Wed, May 9, 16, 30 @ 7:00 pm):
Coding Club with Drew Avis continues to experiment in different programming languages. For ages 10+. Contact the library for more information.
BabyTime (Mon, May 7 & 14, 10:30 am):
Parents and babies (birth to 12 months) are invited to a fun, interactive story, song and rhyme program that encourages parent-baby bonding, and provides tips for language development.
Author Visit (Tues, May 8, 10:00 am):
Local author Claire Smith (Falling into Now) will be doing a reading and answering questions at this month’s meeting of the Library Readers Book Club – interested non-book clubbers are also welcome.
Photoshop Workshop (Sat, May 12, 10:30 am):
Join Chris Chinkiwsky to learn more about using Photoshop to make your photos amazing. This time participants are invited to bring their laptops for some hands-on help. Interested, but don’t have Photoshop? No problem! The Library has Photoshop available on our computers for public use. Contact the library to register.
MACY (Merrickville Art Club for Youth) – (Sat, May 12, 19, 26 @ 1:00):
Local jeweler Kenna McCall (TerrAdore Jewelry) is running MACY (Merrickville Art Club for Youth) – free drop-in art classes for ages 12+. Experiment with pour painting, fibre art, mixed media, jewelry-making & more. It’s a great opportunity to explore a variety of art techniques. Materials and instruction provided. Off the Shelf! (Mon, May 14, 7:00):
Last month’s unseasonable burst of winter tried to put the chill on our evening of poetry, but our readers’ enthusiasm is undaunted, so Off the Shelf will be celebrating Poetry Month in May. Join us for an evening of poetry reading (and maybe musical recitations!).
Plant Sale (Sat, May 26, 9:00 am – 12:00 noon):
The Friends’ Bring & Buy Plant Sale is back beside the Royal Bank. Come by for a wide assortment of great plants at great prices! This is a Bring & Buy event – the Friends gratefully accept donations of plants for the sale. If you have plants you would like to donate, advance pick-up can be arranged. Art Workshop for Kids (Sat, May 26, 1:00-3:00):
Gone Fishin! Join Gloria Stowell in creating a net full of 3-D paper fish that move! This art workshop is for kids aged 8-11 – but they are also welcome to bring Dad, Grandpa, or Big Brother to help land the biggest catch of the day! Don’t let this fish be the one that got away! Friday Movies at the Library (Fridays, 2:00 pm):
Join us for Friday afternoon movies for adults. Bring a friend and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of big films on the big screen. Contact the library for movie titles and trailers.
StoryTime (Fridays, 10ish):
Bring your toddler or preschooler (ages 5 & under) to the library for StoryTime Friday mornings at 10:00(ish). Our drop-in StoryTime is a great way to develop your child’s early literacy and group interaction skills in a fun and relaxed setting. StoryTime encourages key skills that will help your child become a successful reader – through stories related to a theme, songs, rhymes & rhythm instruments, and a simple craft. New StoryTimers are always welcome!
LEGO Club (Saturdays, 10 – 12 noon):
Our drop-in LEGO Club (for ages 4 & up) continues on Saturday mornings between 10 and noon.
