What’s Happening in April
Note: the Library will be Closed on Fri, Apr. 14 & Mon, Apr. 17 for Good Friday / Easter Monday – but will be Open on Sat, Apr. 15.
New – BabyTime (Thursdays, 1:00 pm, starts Apr. 6):
Parents and babies (birth to 12 months) are invited to a fun, interactive story, song and rhyme program that encourages parent-baby bonding, and provides tips for language development. Contact the Librarto register for this free program.
Off the Shelf! (Mon, Apr. 10, 7:00 pm):
Off the Shelf continues to delight audiences with short stories and other literary gems for adult listeners. This month, we’ll be on the second Monday to avoid the Easter weekend. Expect the unexpected!
Sleep Help: Breath, Movement and Essential Oils (Thurs, Apr. 20, 7:00):
When you’re stressed, sleep is one of the first things to go. But when your body, mind and spirit benefit from sleep, you can cope with stress much better. Join Shulamit Ber Levtov, MA, RSW, RYT and Ellie McMillan, E-RYT for this free workshop to learn sleep-enhancing tips and tools that use breath, movement and essential oils to work with your body’s natural impulse to sleep and create lasting results. You’ll also receive a free tip sheet and a gift of essential oils you can use to reduce your stress and encourage sleep.
Registration is required. Donations of goods will be gratefully accepted for Leeds Grenville Interval House.
Juice Jam (Sat, Apr. 22, 10:30 am):
Come to “Juice Jam” with Polly Beach! Toddlers, preschoolers, and primary kids will have a great time playing along to Polly’s songs with shakers, bells, drums, and other rhythm instruments. And after we’re done “jamming”, stay for juice and a snack! This is a free program for ages 7 and under.
Art Workshops (Sat, Apr. 22, 1:00 pm):
Gloria Stowell & Kathy Brown will lead our young artists (age 8+) “Where the Buffalo Roam” in creating art that celebrates the Canadian prairies. Registration required.
Poem in your Pocket (Thurs, Apr. 27, 7:00 pm):
YOU ARE INVITED! Lesley Strutt will host a Poem in Your Pocket Day event at the Library for all poetry enthusiasts. Bring a favourite poem to read, listen to poetry being read, and take a poem or two away with you.
April is National Poetry Month. Poets across the country celebrate poetry by sharing poems with each other and with anyone who enjoys poetry. The month-long celebration peaks with “Poem in Your Pocket Day”, when people around the country are encouraged to channel their inner poet.

Coding for Kids (Thursdays, 6:30 pm):
Learn computer coding basics with Drew Avis as you create your own program in Python (ages 10+).
Afterschool Youth Group (Wednesdays, 4:00):
This month we’ll be making movie trailers and hanging out with friends.
StoryTime (Fridays, 10ish):
Stories, songs, rhymes and a simple craft for toddlers and preschoolers. Cancelled on Apr. 14 (Good Friday).
LEGO Club (Saturdays, 10 – 12):
Bring a friend and come for brick-building fun on Saturday mornings.
